“I’d rather do anything than go to the dentist!”
Sound familiar? Well, I am here to tell you that you are not alone. I can’t tell you how many patients have expressed these fears to me over the years. But you know what? They told me that from my chair. They managed to overcome their fear and were sitting in my chair, meaning they took the first step, the biggest step, in conquering their fear.
“Don’t take this personally, but I hate going to the dentist!”
Avoiding the dentist can actually worsen your fear level. When this fear is left unchallenged, it tends to sit idle until the idea of going to the dentist is brought up. It could be just casual conversation or, worse, a toothache that could bring these unhealthy dental fears to the surface. All of a sudden, you have to make that dreaded dental visit.
Let’s stop the cycle and confront your dental fear together! By taking action to avoid dental related pain, we can start looking forward to going to the dentist.
For starters, getting your teeth cleaned regularly will keep your gums and teeth healthy so that The Pampered Tooth’s healthy mouth dental cleanings can be like a facial for your teeth. Secondly, when you have your regular checkups, we can find any small cavities that, if found early enough, might be able to be treated without fillings.
If you do need fillings, the appointment will be quicker and easier for both you and the dentist if the cavity has been found in its early stages. A win-win situation for everyone.
Remember, when you wait to go to the dentist until you are in pain, you fuel the fear cycle. Your mind will start to associate pain with going to the dentist, and dental visits do not have to be painful. If you have your regular checkups and have a healthy daily dental routine, you can start looking forward to going to the dentist!
But if you DO have an issue, don’t worry! Whether you just need a cleaning, maybe a filling, braces, or teeth whitening, we have many ways to help calm your anxiety and reduce dental discomfort. Let’s start with an appointment, a conversation, a noninvasive exam, and an x-ray. We’ll pamper you as much as we pamper your tooth!
